Finished Object - Wool & Honey Sweater

I recently finished my Wool & Honey Sweater, a design by Andrea Mowry

I went a little rogue on this pattern. Normally I follow the gauge on the pattern and knit pretty much to pattern, maybe with less positive ease than intended.

But when I knit my swatch I really fell in love with the fabric that I had created and I did not want to make it tighter (and stiffer, which was my main concern)

I ended up with 5.5 stitches per inch instead of the 6.5 stitches per inch that the pattern calls for.

I (with some help and reassurance from my husband) did some math and figured out that the size small should give me 5 inches of positive ease. Here is how I did that math.

I went through the pattern and found the stitch count for the body of the sweater after you separate for the sleeves. Since this is a paid for pattern I won't give away the actual numbers but here is an example.
Size: XS(S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL)
Finished bust measurement in inches: 39 (43, 47, 51, 55, 59, 63)
Stitch Count after separating for the sleeves: 254 (280, 306, 332, 358, 384, 410)

From there, I divided all the stitch counts by my gauge (5.5 stitches per inch) to get the total number of inches that size would produce at the bust

Finished bust measurement at my gauge (in inches)
46( 51, 56, 60, 65, 70, 75)

From there, I knew I wanted 4-ish inches of positive ease, my bust is roughly 45 inches, so I decided the small (51 inches finished bust measurement) would be the closest one to my desired fit and would give me about 6 inches of positive ease.

Now normally I would have knit the Large size, so I was a little concerned that my sweater wasn't going to fit but the swatch does not lie!

I am thrilled with how it turned out
